God's Masterpiece: Renecia—a work in progress!

Dear Pin Pals,

It is with great pleasure that I introduce myself, Re-Re, Renecia Yvette Bihms...oops! Sorry, I just had a flashback to my self introduction as a five year old who couldn't understand that Re-Re was only a 'nickname' and should not be used in school since it was not my 'legal' name. That concept was hard to grasp considering anyone rarely had called me Renecia until I started school. Hahaha!!! Ok, so anyway, I am Renecia Bihms-Cullier but still known as Re-Re by relatives and close friends. Welcome to my daily blog, Re-Re's Pin Pals!

Let me tell you a little about myself and how this blog idea came about. I am a Graphic Designer by day and a contemporary abstract artist by night who is tiring of the technology-driven graphics industry. I would like to un-plug and get back to the basics by recapturing the passion I once had for drawing and painting as a child. My art is a testimony of my life based on my environment, experiences and social influences. It is inspirational, emotional and thought-evoking. I attribute my gifts and talents to my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. It is a blessing to be able to glorify HIM through my art (WEBSITE COMING SOON: www.refineartgallery.com). At this point in my life, I would like to step out on faith and develop the habit of painting every day and sell those paintings.

So now you're probably thinking, "Oh great another daily paintings blog—no big deal." Well my friend that's where you would be mistaken. My art is anything but ordinary or typical. The paintings I will be posting on my blog are actually bowling pins. "Bowling pins?!" Yes, used bowling pins are my canvas of choice. I view pins as people personified. They are scarred, battered, bruised and busted up, but I take them and clean them up, put a little paint on them and make them beautiful again—
just as Jesus does to us. Personally I can 'relate' to being a bowling pin by being knocked down, taken advantage of, hurt, damaged and discarded. I've endured some terrible things in my life. Many of those were self-inflicted caused by bad decisions and choices and my faith has been tested. Overall, I've made it through time and time again and I'm in a beautiful place now, at peace with my life. I'm thankful to God for all I've been through, the lessons learned, and the person He's made me through those experiences. However, sometimes I do reflect upon my past 'bruises' to remind myself of where I was compared to where I am now.

Well,I have to go now. Thanks for visiting my blog and I look forward to hearing from you soon. Please drop me a quick line or two and feel free to check out more of my art at www.cafepress.com/refineart. My website, www.refineartgallery will be launched on Christmas day, December 25th and I will begin posting my latest daily art project "IN GOD WE TRUST" here at Re-Re's Pin Pals. More details to come.....5 days and counting to my official blog & website launch!

Enthusiastically,
God's Masterpiece:
